This is a private reference resource, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, arrange a release, post bond, retrieve an official booking record, or answer a court case question. Contact the responsible public office directly for those matters.
County Detention and Records
For a current county-custody question, use DCSO’s official Citizen Connect interface. For a booking record or photo, the Sheriff directs public-records requests to NextRequest. The office accepts applicable fulfillment costs but does not publish a fixed booking-photo fee, so ask for an estimate with the request.
DCSO Records Requests routes Sheriff and Detention Center submissions to NextRequest. Steven Wright is the published PIO and FOIA contact, but the portal is the agency’s stated submission route.
Choose the Right Office
Custody, a booking record, a court outcome, and a state-prison profile are separate questions. Start with the source that holds the specific kind of information.
- For a recent Dorchester admission, release event, or current jail display, use the county search and booking-record path.
- For a person on the Sheriff’s published wanted list or a possible warrant question, use the Most Wanted Fugitives source and its court-and-agency verification route.
- For a Dorchester case filing, hearing, or disposition, use the Trial Court Public Index or the Clerk.
- For a current sentenced South Carolina prison record, use the SCDC offender locator.
- For federal custody, use the BOP locator. For ICE custody, use the ICE’s locator.
Court Record Contacts
The Dorchester Circuit Court and Clerk handle court records, not routine detention booking photographs. The courthouse is at 5200 E. Jim Bilton Boulevard, St. George, SC 29477. The Criminal Clerk’s number is 843-563-0231, and the main Clerk number is 843-563-0160. Court-office hours published for Circuit Court are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, excluding holidays.
The First Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Dorchester office is at 101 Ridge Street, second floor, St. George, SC 29477, 843-871-2640. Its office prosecutes cases. It is not the normal custodian of a DCSO booking record.
